PEDANA (Krishna dist.): A 21-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances at his residence at Balliparru village near here on Saturday. The victim was identified as Pamarthi Srinath, who recently completed his B.Tech. and was said to be making arrangements to pursue M.Tech. from an engineering college in Roorkee. According to the police, Srinath had intimate friendship with a girl, who happened to be his relative and classmate, and he planned to marry her. After the girl’s family shifted to Hyderabad, she reportedly began avoiding him. Since he continued to speak to her over telephone and proposed to her repeatedly, she filed a complaint of harassment at the Sanathnagar police station. However, a common relative of both the families took the initiative for a dialogue and invited him for a compromise in the presence of the police, so that the case could be withdrawn. Srinath was supposed to leave for Hyderabad on Saturday. His elder brother Benerji hired a taxi in the morning and knocked the door of Srinath’s room to call him. Since there was no response from inside, he broke open the door and saw the body of Srinath hanging from the ceiling fan. The body was sent for a post-mortem. The police suspected that Srinath might have committed suicide, as he feared separation from the girl. A case was registered under Section 174 (suspicious death) of the Cr.P.C.
