VIZIANAGARAM: The District Consultative Committee on Banks has approved the government-sponsored schemes estimated at Rs. 445.87-crore for the year 2009-10. Speaking at the meeting, Lok Sabha member Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi asked bankers to sanction crop loans to eligible farmers, bridge loans to self-help groups and Indiramma housing beneficiaries. She appealed to them to cooperate with the government in the implementation of welfare schemes. Collector G. Ram Narayana Reddy stressed on the need to increase deposits and lending levels besides prompt recoveries. Identification campsLead Bank Manager B.G.K. Acharyulu said that deposits during 2008-09 increased by 25.89 per cent and the progress on grounding various schemes was satisfactory. He asked bankers to encourage constitution of farm clubs in their zones. Identification camps for farm loan beneficiaries would be conducted from July 10 to 31 and take action on applications forwarded by Mandal Development Officers within 14 days. Assistant General Manager of Nabard Durga Prasad Sarma said that loans would be sanctioned to farmers possessing pattadar passbooks under 10 (1) adangul. Later, officials of various departments detailed bankers about welfare schemes of respective departments. At the end the committee resolved to appeal to the government to extend the last date for crop insurance from July 31 to August 31. It also resolved to extend loans to tenant farmers after grouping them as joint liability groups.
