Bank fraud: case registered

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The city police on Friday registered a case following a complaint from the Andhra Pradesh State Financial Corporation officials that unidentified persons had fraudulently withdrawn Rs. 5.94 crore from their account with Andhra Bank’s Vijayawada branch. A special team, which went to Vijayawada, found that some persons claiming to be the owners of Vishal Computers and Peripherals, presented a fabricated cheque and withdrew the money from the corporation account.

A hunt is on to trace the Vishal company owner to ascertain his or his staff’s role in the fraud.
