Promoting culture: Minister for Higher Education and NRI Affairs D. Sridhar Babu at the inauguration of TANA International Internship Programme for Youth at Care Hospital in Banjara Hills on Friday. HYDERABAD: Minister for Higher Education and NRI Affairs D. Sridhar Babu on Friday inaugurated the second Telugu Association of North America’s International Internship Programme for Youth at Care Hospital here. The programme is designed to promote Telugu culture among young Americans of Telugu origin. It will also provide them the direct experience of living and working conditions of people during their internship period in the city. Six scholars Divya Yalamanchili, Sahith Aula, Lekhaj Daggubati, Kirsten Seetha Bondalapati, Rekha Kambhampati and Puja Chebrolu were selected after a detailed screening process by a committee that reviewed their academic excellence, interest in Telugu language and other qualities. The program will conclude on July 31. Mr. Babu said the initiative would enable scholars to know more about the Indian culture. Care Foundation Chairman Dr. Krishnam Raju, TANA IIP Co-Chair MVL Prasad and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
