MLA falsely implicated, say TD leaders

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam leaders have accused the ruling Congress of falsely implicating TDP Kovvur MLA, T.V. Rama Rao in a case which had not taken place with a view to defame him.

At a press conference here on Friday, TD leaders Kadiam Srihari, B.Goplakrishna Reddy and R.Chandrasekhara Reddy said that rumours were created on Thursday that a girl studying in the nursing school run by the MLA was murdered and subsequently the local Congress leaders tried to attack the institute.

Congress has demanded stern action against the TDP MLA for his alleged involvement in the rape and murder of a nursing student in the nursing college run by him in Nidadavole in West Godavari district. At another press conference, CLP member Gidugu Rudraraju questioned the TD Legislature Party’s cautious approach over the issue.

Praja Rajyam regretted that despite having a woman as Home Minister, the number of atrocities on women in the State was on the rise.
