No complaint about any student missing, says police They fail to get any evidence suggesting murder of student
T.V.Rama Rao ELURU: Telugu Desam MLA from Kovvuru T.V. Rama Rao on Friday appeared to have got a temporary reprieve as the police said they had no ‘clinching’ evidence to suggest his role in the case of alleged rape and murder of a nursing college student. DIG of Police, Eluru Range, Ravi Gupta said “nothing is forthcoming in the police investigations except suspected blood stains on the premises of the nursing college owned by the MLA.” The samples of blood stains were sent to the forensic laboratory in Hyderabad for tests and the police would act on the basis of the outcome of the test, the DIG told The Hindu. He stated that the police had also not received complaint about any student missing and obtained no clues regarding the case. Police inquiries with the nursing students revealed that 15 out of the 30 on the rolls were present on Thursday. Mr. Rama Rao was in the eye of storm on Thursday night after the police detained him in Nidadavole police station. After high drama, the MLA was let off on Friday morning. The 52-year-old MLA was allegedly caught while ‘hiding behind a water tank on the fifth floor of his college building at Nidadavole by a group of Dalits. The protesters staged a demonstration outside the TVR Spruha Nursing Home, of which Mr. Rama Rao was the Chairman, and picketed the police station demanding his arrest and disqualification as an MLA. Case registeredThe police registered a case of murder and rape against Mr. Rama Rao on two complaints -- by Pilli David Kumar of Dalit Maha Sabha and Congress former councillor Goda Prasad. Collector G. Jayalakshmi, Superintendent of Police B. Balakrishna and the top brass of the police and the revenue departments camped at Nidadaovle and reviewed the situation. Although the protesters led the police into the college and showed them blood stains on the walls and the floor, there was no evidence suggesting the murder of a girl student. The police made a futile attempt to trace the body in the so-called case of murder as alleged by the agitators. The attempts by the Clues teams and sniffer dogs also yielded no results. The incident took caste and political turns as the activists of the Congress and the Mala caste groups joined hands seeking the arrest of Mr. Rama Rao who belongs to the Madiga community. In Hyderabad, Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy spoke to the Collector and SP on phone and directed them to submit a report by evening.
