Decks cleared for water users association polls

CHENNAI: The decks have been cleared for conducting elections to the Water Users Associations in 20 districts in the State with the Madras High Court dismissing a writ petition seeking a stay. The government had issued the order for conducting elections to the 1,566 associations on June 27 when the petition was filed. The court dismissed the petition on Tuesday. Following this, all arrangements were being made to conduct the election within the time frame, according to an official press release.
