BHUBANESWAR: The State government has recognised at least 28 new places of tourist importance during past eight years. Replying to different queries in the Assembly, Tourism Minister Debi Prasad Mishra said of these 28 places, Union government came forward to sanction funds for development of five spots. The places are Pragalapitha, Barapali, Ujjaleswar and Ghodahada, Kechela and Bramapura. Both Centre and State proposed to spend Rs. 3 crore for development of these sites. Mr. Mishra said as many as 1,87,114 foreign tourists had visited the State during past five years and they spent about Rs. 424 crore on different head the State. As State was getting rich dividends from forest tourists’ visits, the State government was taking different steps.
