Making a point: Left Front Chief Whip Syed Mohammad Mosih (left) talks to journalists after meeting the West Bengal Governor, Gopal Krishna Gandhi, in Kolkata on Thursday. KOLKATA: A delegation of Left Front MLAs led by the government chief whip Syed Mohammad Masih, submitted a memorandum to the Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi here on Thursday seeking his intervention into the large-scale violence and terror unleashed in the State by the opposition parties and “their Maoist accomplices.” “Since the Lok Sabha elections 53 party members have been brutally murdered, women and children have been assaulted and party offices have been torched. We appealed to the Governor as the head of the State and the highest constitutional authority in the State to visit the areas affected by the violence and initiate some action,” Mr. Masih told journalists at Raj Bhavan. “The Governor has assured us of immediate action,” he said. “But we will not wait for him to act. The LF will raise the issue in the Assembly.” Details of the leaders and party workers who have been killed in the violence were submitted along with the memorandum. We have also submitted an extract of the provocative speech made by Trinamool Congress MP Subhendu Adhikary and a television interview of Maoist leader Bikash claiming that the people have mandated a death warrant for Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Mr. Masih added.
