Court directs police to trace ‘missing’ woman

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Bangalore City police have been directed by the Karnataka High Court to trace a missing woman who is said to be with her father in Uttar Pradesh, and produce her before the court before June 22, 2009.

The High Court passed the order on a habeas corpus petition by the husband of the woman. The petitioner, Shivakumar M., said he is a resident of Bangalore and that he had on May 8, 2009, married Alka of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. He said the marriage was solemnised before the Registrar of Marriages, Peenya, Bangalore. Mr. Shivakumar claimed Alka’s parents and her brother, who were against the marriage, forcibly took Alka from Bangalore to Allahabad.
