Encouraging scientific temper among schoolchildren

BANGALORE: A documentary titled “The Future Gene” aiming at encouraging schoolchildren to cultivate scientific approach and implement it in daily life has been brought out by Medilight Association, comprising undergraduate medical professionals of Bellary Medical College.

Nagesh C.K., general secretary of the association, told presspersons here on Wednesday that a team of medical professionals conducted a survey of secondary schools in rural areas of Bellary district aimed at finding out the problems of the students in understanding science and applying it in daily life.

“In an attempt to give solutions to the problems of the students, we brought out the documentary,” he said.

The compact disc comprises message from Prof. C.N.R. Rao, Chairman, Science Advisory Council to Prime Minister, and the analysis of current scenario by eminent people who have been striving to achieve the same goal. It has the audiovisual recording of the reactions of the students who have achieved something in the field of science. The CD is authorised by the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and State Government has permitted to distribute it to the secondary schools in the State.
