dated June 17, 1959: Rehabilitation move

Forty Kalbelia families, till now engaged in the occupation of snake-charming, have given up their age-old profession and are settling down in their new habitat in Girwa Block, three miles from Udaipur, to take to bamboo craft, it is learnt. Their “re-settlement” is part of the programme of rehabilitating “unsettled” families, like Gadia Lohars and Kalbelia or snake-charmers.
