Officials detain sand-laden lorries

TIRUNELVELI: Revenue officials on Tuesday detained five sand-laden lorries on charges of over-loading. On instructions from Collector M. Jayaraman, revenue officials led by Tirunelveli Revenue Divisional Officer Mariappan and Palayamkottai Tahsildar Gana. Muruganandam conducted surprise check at Palayamkottai on Tuesday and detained five lorries, all carrying sand to Kerala. The lorries were taken to Palayamkottai police station.
