No flow: Residents of wards 6 and 15 staging a protest on the Tirunelveli Corporation premises on Tuesday demanding drinking water.

TIRUNELVELI: Demanding regular and adequate supply of protected drinking water to their area, residents of wards 6 (Kailaasapuram near Tirunelveli Junction) and 15 (Manakaavalanpillai Nagar) staged a dharna on the Corporation premises on Tuesday.

Accompanied by the functionaries of Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam, protestors from ward 6 complained that the supply of drinking water to their area was so erratic for the past few months and there was no supply to the tail-end regions as pressure was very low.

Residents from ward 15 said their repeated appeals failed to evoke any response and had badly hit their routines.

The protestors later submitted a petition to Mayor A.L. Subramanian.
