Government fair to commence in Tirunelveli from Saturday

TIRUNELVELI: The Exhibition Ground here is being decked up to host the 45-day fair from June 20.

To popularise the government policies, development programmes, welfare measures being extended to the poor, achievements of the administration, the Department of Information and Public Relations has planned to organise the expo from Saturday.

Besides the regular joy rides, departments of Information and Public Relations, Tourism, Industries, Local Administration, Forest, Agriculture, Police, Fisheries, Public Health and Medicine, Cooperation, Education, Social Welfare, Siddha Medicine, Adi Dravida Welfare, Animal Husbandry, Small Savings, Public Works and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, TWAD Board, Co-Optex, Aavin, Tamil Nadu Adi Dravida Housing and Development Corporation, Tirunelveli Corporation, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation etc. are expected to set-up their stalls in the exhibition.

Apart from setting up the stalls, the Department of Public Health will also offer valuable tips on healthy practices to the visiting public.

While the Corporation will ensure adequate supply of drinking water to the venue for the benefit of the public, the State Transport Corporation has planned to operate adequate number of buses to and from Exhibition Grounds from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Collector M. Jayaraman, who is visiting the Exhibition Grounds frequently to monitor to preparations, asked the officials concerned to make the stalls ready latest by June 19 itself.
