CHENNAI: A playful Class VIII student died when a movable goal post fell on his head in the playground of a private school at Washermenpet here early on Tuesday. According to police sources, S. Karthik (13) of New Washermenpet had gone to the K.C. Sankaralinga Nadar Higher Secondary School on G.A. Road around 6 a.m. with some of his friends to play. Enquiries revealed that when Karthik was trying to swing from one of the bars of the goal post, the entire metal frame came down on him. He bled profusely and lost consciousness almost instantly. He had suffered grievous head injury and died on the way to hospital. The body was shifted to the Stanley Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
