Minister to open meet on water conservation

Thrissur: The Southern Regional Forum of ‘Water Community’, hosted by the district administration with the support of the United Nation’s Solution Exchange, will begin at the Kerala Institute of Local Administration here on Tuesday. Revenue Minister K. P. Rajendran will inaugurate the two-day programme. Therambil Ramakrishnan, MLA, will preside. A. C. Moideen, MLA, District Panchayat president Ambadi Venu and Collector V. K. Baby will speak. S. M. Vijayanand, principal secretary, will speak on the ‘Role of local bodies in water resources management’.

The forum will discuss different aspects of ‘Mazhapolima’, a participatory well recharge programme being implemented by the district administration in association with panchayati-raj institutions.
