Kakinada: The All India Trade Union Congress has appealed to the Deputy Labour Commissioner , Kakinada, to ensure strict implementation of minimum wages for those working in municipalities, government hospitals and others in the unorganised sector. A delegation of AITUC, led by its district president K Krishna Rao, submitted a memorandum to the DLC on Monday seeking steps to pay minimum wages and salary arrears to municipal contract workers, minimum wages to technical workers and nurses in the Government General Hospital at Kakinada and necessary measures to improve working conditions of all such workers. Mr. Krishna Rao stated that the International Labour Organization had stipulated that a minimum wage of Rs 10,000 should be paid to workers in the unorganised sector but neither the Government nor the private entities were paying the minimum wages while the workers suffered due to paltry remuneration for works which are disproportionately burdensome.
