Dies in accident

VIZIANAGARAM: Assistant Commandant of 5th APSP Battalion P. Madhu was cremated with state honours at Chintalavalasa village on Monday. Superintendent of Police Y. Gangadhar visited the accident spot and also attended the funeral. The Assistant Commandant, his wife Shanti Sri and son Tejpal (12) were returning to the Battalion from Vizianagaram on their two wheeler late on Sunday night when a truck coming in the opposite direction hit him at Leprosy Mission Hospital, near Chelluru on the NH-43. Under the impact the petrol tank of the two-wheeler burst and caught fire. All the three suffered severe burns. While Madhu and his son were burnt alive at the spot, Shanti Sri was rushed to Visakhapatnam in a critical condition.
