NEW DELHI: Collage Group beat Sonnet Club by four wickets in the final of the 36th Goswami Ganesh Dutt memorial cricket tournament at the St. Stephen’s College ground here on Sunday. Sent in, Sonnet compiled 287 for five in 40 overs with Rahul Dewan cracking a 100 off 76 balls (14x4) with support from Gaurav Kochar (58, 60 balls) and Yashpal Singh (76, 55b, 8x4, 2x6). Collage achieved the target with eight balls to spare thanks to some excellent batting by wicketkeeper-batsman Mahesh Rawat (96, 87b, 7x4, 3x6), Kamal Beniwal (74, 88b, 6x4), Sanjay Gill (56, 30b, 5x4, 4x6) and Farman Ahmed (30, 16b, 5x4, 1x6). Rawat was declared the best all-rounder of the tournament and the ‘man of the match’. Chetnya Nanda was the best bowler of the tournament, Dewan the best batsman, Pradeep Sangwan the ‘man of the tournament’ and Arijit Gupta the most promising player. The scores: Sonnet 287 for five in 40 overs (Rahul Dewan 100, Yashpal Singh 76, Gaurav Kochar 58) lost to Collage 290 for six in 38.4 overs (Mahesh Rawat 96, Kamal Beniwal 74, Sanjay Gill 56, Farman Ahmed 30).
