Nalini Kumar, Sanjana take the honours

VIJAYAWADA: C. Nalini Kumar and G. Sanjana won the Krishna District Chess Association u-11 selection tournament for boys and girls by hauling four points each in four rounds here on Sunday.

K. Yeshwanth Sai garnered 3.5 points while K. Harshitha bagged three to finish second.

To represent Krishna

These four players will represent Krishna District in the State u-11 tournament to be held at Hyderabad in the month of July.-

Prem slams century

Prem Sagar 139 (23x4, 1x6) for Nellore against Anantapur was the highlight of the two-day ACA South Zone u-19 tournament for T. Giridhar Reddy memorial trophy at Anantapur on Sunday.

Nellore, in reply to Anantapur’s 133 in 512 overs, was 201 for thee in 37 at the close of the first day’s play.

In another match, Kurnool was 207 for three in 38 overs, in reply to Chittoor’s 156 in 54 overs.

The scores: Anantapur 133 in 51 overs (K. Naresh Kumar 59, Sufiyan five for 19) vs. Nellore 201 for three in 37 overs (Prem Sagar 139).

Chittoor 156 in 54 overs (Lokesh 39, Sravan Teja 35, Vinod Kumar four for 30, Rajendra three for 42) vs. Kurnool 207 for three in 38 overs (Arun Kumar 73, Rehamtullah 68 n.o.).

Big win for KDCA Blues

KDCA Blues defeated KDCA Greens by 159 runs in the u-16 selection match at IGMC stadium here on Sunday.

KDCA Blues made 261 in the allotted 60 overs and in reply, Green outfit was bundled out for 104 in 31.1 overs.

KDCA Blues 261 in 60 overs (L. Krishna Babu 50, Meer Akbar Hussain 43, G. Nagarjuna 39, L. Kevin 36, K. Bhima Rao three for 10) bt KDCA Greens 104 in 31.1 overs (M. Sriharsha 57 n.o., K. Dilip three for one).
