Searching for missing daughter

Staff Reporter

Kochi: An Indian Air Force (IAF) sergeant is on the look out for his eight-year-old daughter who had gone missing during the tsunami.

Apurva, daughter of Sergeant Ravi Shankar, is untraceable since December 26, 2004 and efforts made by the Air Force to locate her were unsuccessful.

Now the Defence spokesperson in Thiruvananthapuram has appealed to the public to help the Air Force trace the girl.

When the tsunami hit Car Nicobar, Sgt. Ravi Shankar was being evacuated along with his family and other air warriors.

But the service truck in which they were travelling was submerged by the killer waves causing loss of lives.

Although Sgt. Ravi Shankar and his wife were evacuated to safety, they lost their one-year-old son in the incident.

Their daughter has been missing ever since. Phone: 0471-2551361.
