Bidding adieu to the ‘bicycle doctor’

Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: Tom Middlemiss is no stranger to city residents. In fact, he is rather famous as the ‘cycle doctor’ who whizzes past the busy traffic on his bicycle, covering the 16-km stretch from Muttacaud, where he stays, to the palliative clinic at Pattom and back every day.

Dr. Middlemiss, a palliative care physician from the U.K., has spent the last six months in Thiruvananthapuram doing voluntary work for Pallium India. As his short stint in the city comes to a close, Dr. Middlemiss has proposed to take a bicycle ride from the capital to Mumbai to promote awareness on palliative care among the public.

Pallium India is organising a function in the city on June 13, to bid adieu to Dr. Middlemiss and to wish him the very best for his bicycle trip to Mumbai.
