Grace marks for NSS volunteers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) — in universities, higher secondary and vocational higher secondary schools, engineering colleges and in polytechnics — would henceforth be given grace marks, a pressnote said here. Till now the benefit was available only to NCC cadets. Those with NSS certificates would get 2 per cent, those who attend national camps would get 3 per cent and those who take part in the Republic Day camp would get 5 per cent grace marks. As many as 1,73,000 NSS volunteers in the State would benefit from the decision. The NSS programme coordinators concerned would take the initiative to ensure that volunteers got these benefits, the note said.
