KOCHI: The two-day ChEM-09, annual State conference of chemical engineers held here on Friday and Saturday provided an opportunity for industrialists, researchers and academics to share ideas, innovations and share their successes. The two-day meet was organised by the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Kochi Regional Centre. The Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University Prof. Rajashekharan Pillai inaugurated the programmes at the BPCL-Kochi Refinery on Friday, said a press release here. Ten engineers selected from among the stalwarts of chemical engineering field were honoured with the “Outstanding Chemical Engineer Award” for the year 2009. The awards were given away on Saturday. Prof. N. S. Ramasway was the chief guest at the function. Chairman of IIChE, Kochi Regional Centre R. Venugopal and Biju Prabhakar, Director, Bhoomi Keralam project and Sushil Kumar, national president of IIChE, spoke.
