Sathish slams century

TIRUCHI: R. Sathish slammed a century as Pudukottai RC defeated Sanjay Cosmo CC by 81 runs in a league match of the State-level invitation RKV Twenty20 cricket tournament here on Friday. Pudukottai RC, Prof. Krishna Memorial CC, S&S CC and RKV CC have entered the semifinals.

Chess tournament

The Vijay Anandh Chess Academy will conduct a State-level chess tournament at the Urumu Dhanalakshmi College on June 13 and 14.

The tournament will be conducted in under-13, 11, 9 and 7 age categories. Entries close on June 11.

Vijaya Bank scores

At Puducherry, Vijaya Bank beat Western Railway 77-59 in the Jeppiaar-all India invitation basketball tournament at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium on Saturday.

Vijaya Bank’s Basavaraj (20 points) was declared as ‘man of the match’.

In another match, ONGC registered its third win by defeating Indian Army 81-67. Army’s Pramod Kumar was named as the best player.

Earlier late on Friday, IOB drubbed Punjab 84-69.

In the final on Sunday, Chhattisgarh will take on Southern Railway in the women’s section, while ONGC will play Western railway in the men’s event. The final would be telecast live by DD Sports from 3.30 p.m. onwards.
