Raid to check illicit arrack sale

CHENGAM: The Tiruvannamalai district police will conduct a three-day intensified raid to check the sale of illicit arrack, Superintendent of Police M. Paneerselvam has said.

He was speaking after inspecting a site chosen for construction of quarters for police personnel here on Thursday. The sub-division Deputy Superintendent of Police, an Inspector and a Sub-Inspector would constitute a team.

Mr. Paneerselvam said that the raid was aimed at eradicating arrack sale. Compared to other blocks in the district, arrack problem was more at Chengam and Pudupalayam.
