All the doctors in the government institutions should also be available for consultation till 4 p.m., she said. All doctors, nurses and other staff in the Health Services would be working where they are presently posted to combat the communicable diseases that is threatening the health parameters of the State. The district unit of the National Rural Health Mission will supplement personnel in Health institutions where there is a scarcity, she added. The taluk and district hospitals should have a separate ward to admit fever cases and mosquito nets should be provided during treatment. The Minister also wanted special security to prevent visitors from entering this hospital ward. Mrs. Sreemathy emphasised on the cleaning of the hospital premises and asked the superintendents to supervise it thoroughly. The wards have to be cleaned in the night after dinner time so that waste is not allowed to accumulate till morning, she added. She instructed the pharmacists to provide a list of medicines that is likely to fall short. This is to ensure that there is no gap in the supply of medicines, she added. Asking all the different medical treatment streams like Allopathy, Ayurveda and Homoeopathy to co-ordinate their work, the Minister said that all fever cases that come in for treatment and for in-patient treatment in ayurveda and homoeopathy should also be reported to the District Medical Officer. The Rapid Response Team, which had a meeting two days ago, would be available to check any incidence of any epidemic-like situation in the district, informed the District Medical Officer, K. T. Remani. A control room that can be reached at 2373616 is functioning at the DMO’s office that will immediately inform the Rapid Response Team for any action if required. The Minister visited the District General Hospital and also the training centre at Thripunithura. A fever ward was opened at the District hospital. However, no patients have been admitted to this ward so far. The Minister also visited the ailing actor of yesteryears, M.K. Kamalam, who is being treated at the hospital for the last three days. The 84-year old actor was shifted to the ward after treatment in the medical intensive care unit for two days.
