KOCHI: Health Minister P. K. Sreemathy said here that soon clusters of government-run hospitals will have power laundries to ensure the availability of clean bed-sheets in these hospitals. The Minister said that the old system of having regular dhobis in government hospitals had been dead for a long time. But power laundries for clusters of hospitals in various areas will solve this problem, she said. The Health Department was making efforts to ensure the supply of five bed-sheets per bed in the government hospitals, she said inaugurating a function organised by the Kerala Bar Hotels Association here on Sunday to distribute study materials and uniforms to needy students. More than 2,500 needy students in various classes have benefited from the social intervention programme by the Association. K. V. Thomas, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Civil Supplies; K. P. Rajeev, MP; K. Babu and V. D. Satheesan, MLAs; District Secretary of the CPI (M) Gopi Kottamurikkal; Deputy Mayor of the Corporation of Kochi C. K. Mani Shankar and former Minister for Fisheries Dominic Presentation were among those present.
