Yuva Janata Dal unit elects new district president

Special Correspondent

KOCHI: The district convention of Yuva Janata Dal, the youth wing of the Janata Dal (Secular), which met here on Sunday, elected A. Muhammed Aslam as the new district president. He replaces K. Salim who has been reportedly ousted from the organisation. The convention was inaugurated by Sabah Pulpatta, the State president of YJD. Alungal Devassy, Augustine Kolencherry and other leaders of Janata Dal (Secular) addressed the gathering. The convention adopted a resolution which said the recently held poll results dealt a heavy blow on those who ignored the party. It blamed CPI(M) for the weakening of the LDF. It also warned of action against those who betray the party. The district unit of the youth wing was supporting the party led by M. P. Veerendrakumar, said a spokesman of the YJD. The district president of the JD(Secular) had been ousted earlier for alleged anti-party activities, according to the spokesman.
