Akademi awards to be presented today

KOCHI: The State awards by the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi will be given away at a function on Saturday at the TDM Hall and exhibition of the award winning works will be held at the Durbar Hall Art Gallery.

Fellowship of the year, K. C. S. Panikkar award, Padmini Puraskaram and Kesari Puraskaram will be given by the Minister for Education and Culture, M. A. Baby. Union Minister of State for Agriculture, K. V. Thomas, will give away the 38th State awards. The awards also include that for photography and cartoon.

Akkitham Narayanan will receive the K.C.S. Panikkar award of Rs. 50,000, citation and a memento. Surendran Nair and Bose Krishnamachari will receive the fellowship of Rs. 30,000 along with a citation. Anila Jacob will be given the Padmini Puraskaram while Sadananda Menon has been selected for the Kesari Puraskaram.
