Money from waste for the corporation

KOCHI: There is money in garbage. In fact, money sufficient enough to buy a vehicle.

The Kochi Corporation has demonstrated that money collected in the form of fines from those littering the city could be used for equipping the officials to check littering.

The civic body had collected around Rs. 8 lakh over the past few months from those who had dumped waste in the corporation area.

The health officer of the corporation suggested that a jeep should be purchased with the amount.

The Corporation Council, which met on Thursday, cleared the proposal.
