New post for Mulayam’s brother
Atiq Khan
LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh on Monday handed over charge of party affairs in Uttar Pradesh to his brother, Shivpal Singh Yadav, who was named leader of the Legislature Party.
Mr. Singh, who was elected from Mainpuri in the recent Lok Sabha elections, decided to quit as MLA from Bhartana and shift to national politics.
As the SP is the largest Opposition party in the Assembly, Mr. Yadav, elected from Jaswantnagar , will replace Mr. Singh as Leader of the Opposition as well. Waqar Ahmed Shah was named deputy leader. He replaces Mohammad Azam Khan, who was expelled from the party.
