Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: A one-day workshop organised by the State branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) here on Monday highlighted the importance of improving doctor-community relationship. A pressnote issued by the IMA said the workshop was an initiative to kick start corrective measures within the medical profession even as it was demanding a special hospital protection law to prevent violence against hospitals and doctors. The press release said the IMA would equip its local branches to train doctors and hospital staff across the State in communication skills and ethical practices. IMA State president Dr. R. Ramesh presided over the workshop. President of the Travancore Cochin Medical Council Dr. M.N. Rema inaugurated the event. Member, Medical Council of India, Dr. V.C.Velayudhan Pillai, IMA State secretary Dr. J. Rajagopalan Nair and chairman of the IMA Ethics Committee Dr. M. Bhaskaran were among those who spoke.
