New Delhi: Rashid Khan signed off with a three-under 69 to leapfrog 10 places and finish tied third in the Malaysian amateur Open golf tournament at Kuching on Sunday. Rashid finished with a four-day total of one-over 289, just two strokes adrift of leader Thanyakon Khrongpha of Thailand. Vikram Rana, however slipped to 16th place after a round of 76, while Gagan Verma, finished tied 23rd carding 77. In the ladies’ section, Shreya Ghai (240) finished tied eighth with a final round 79. Taiwan’s Pei-Ying Tsai (271), who led by five strokes from the start, returned two-over 74 on the final round to win the title by three strokes. — PTI Corrections and Clarifications
A golf report on the Malaysian amateur Open golf tournament, "Rashid ends up
third" ("Sport", May 25, 2009), should have said that Taiwan's Pei-Ying Tsai
returned with a two-over 74 for a three-day total of five-over 221 to win
the title and not 271 as reported by PTI.
