Under-16 tournament from tomorrow
BANGALORE: The inaugural Hanumant Singh Trophy inter-zonal academy under-16 tournament, conducted by the National Cricket Academy (NCA), will commence here and at Hosur, Mysore and Anantapur on Monday.
It may be recalled that the late Hanumant Singh was the NCA’s director when the academy was launched in 2000.
According to a BCCI press release, the tournament will also serve as a selection trial for the NCA’s under-16 camp that will be held during July and August. From the tournament, 30 players will be selected for the under-16 camp.
The tournament will feature six teams — North, East, West, South, Central and a Combined President’s XI — that will compete in three-day matches played on a league format. — Principal Correspondent
