Schools’ move to charge hiked fees flayed

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana unit of the CPI (M) has criticised the move by private schools in the State to charge increased fees and collect money in the name of various “funds” at the time of fresh admissions.

Haryana CPI (M) State secretary Inderjit Singh has in a statement described the move as “totally arbitrary, unilateral and violative of the guidelines” of the Haryana Education Board.

Unethical act

He charged that “greedy private managements were exploiting the parents’ concern for their wards’ education and indulging in the unethical act of commercialising the education sector”.

Mr. Singh said the private managements had been allotted prime government lands at nominal rates apart from many other concessions but they were flagrantly violating the prescribed norms in lieu of these facilities.
