Parminder sparkles

HYDERABAD: Striker Parminder Singh scored five goals, including a hat-trick, to fashion Cantonment Area Sports Club’s impressive 7-2 win over APSRTC in the A-2 division hockey league championship at Gymkhana grounds here on Saturday.

The winner led 4-0 at the break. The other two goals were scored by Saikumar and Sharath Kumar.

For APSRTC, Guru Swamy and Shankar struck once each.

Alekhya triumphs

C. Alekhya defeated R. Niharika 4-2, 5-3 in the girls’ under-12 final of the Sun-Jay Tennis Academy AITA Talent Series tennis tournament at ASCI courts here.

The results (all finals):

Girls: Under-12: C. Alekhya bt R. Niharika 4-2, 5-3.

Under-14: D. Mahitha Reddy bt C.R. Nidhitra 4-0, 4-1; Doubles: D. Mahitha Reddy & Hanisha Vasi Reddy bt R. Neharika & Sai Navya 8-6.

Boys: Under-12: S.A. Wahab bt S. Jitesh Swamy 4-0, 4-0.

Under-14: Adwaithiya Patnaik bt A.L. Anirudh 4-2, 4-2.

Vijetha takes title

K. Vijetha defeated Divyarsha 21-8, 21-12 in the girls’ under-13 final of the GHMC Open badminton tournament at Ameerpet Indoor Stadium.

The results:

Girls: Under-16: Semifinals: P.V. Sindhu bt Samhitha 21-10, 21-8; Meghana bt Maneesha 21-13, 21-14.

Doubles: P.V. Sindhu & Maneesha bt Harshitha & Vijetha 21-5, 21-8; Meghana & Pramada bt Samhita & Pratikshita 21-12, 22-20.

Under-13: Final: K. Vijetha bt Divyarsha 21-8, 21-12.

Boys: Under-16: Semifinals: Nagendra bt Devansh 21-19, 21-16; R. Santosh bt Saharsha 18-21, 21-13, 24-22.

Doubles: Saharsha & Nagendra bt Maneesh & Saurabh Sharma 21-15, 21-15; Akash Nair & V. Sirish bt Devansh & Sirish 21-18, 21-13.

Men’s doubles: Semifinals: Waseem & Veeraswamy bt Gandhi & Srinivas Reddy 21-13, 21-10; Ravi & Giri bt Ranjith & Vinay 21-19, 21-17.

Gunrock registers win

Gunrock recorded a 2-1 win over GHMC Alwal in the Sachdev Sports Cup under-16 football tournament, organised by Shastri Soccer Club, at Trimulgherry Village grounds here.

For the winner, Valentino and Edwin scored, while Devender netted for the loser.

In another match, Trimulgherry Village ‘C’ defeated Bolarum 2-1 with Narsing and Raheem being the scorers. For Bolarum, Clinton Amalraj reduced the margin.
