Vivek-Navdeep enter final

NEW DELHI: Vivek Shokeen and Navdeep Singh defeated the fourth-seeded Yuki Bhambri and Rohan Gajjar 7-6(4), 6-4 in the doubles semifinals of the $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament at Meshref, Kuwait.

Vivek and Navdeep had a tough start as they beat Mohammad Al Ghareeb of Kuwait and Johan Ortegren of Sweden 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 in the first round of the doubles.

In singles, the fine run of qualifier V.M. Ranjeet came to an end at the hands of the fourth-seeded Al Ghareeb, the Kuwaiti running away to a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the semifinals.

Yuki injured

In the doubles semifinals, Yuki sprained his ankle midway through the match. He has opted to pull out of the second tournament in Kuwait next week and return home.
