Tirupati
TIRUPATI: Renovation work is underway at a brisk pace at the Sri Kodandaramaswamy temple, one of the three major TTD-maintained shrines in Tirupati with less than ten days to go for the ‘Samprokshanam’—consecration ceremony. The main temple and its sanctum sanctorum besides other sub-temples located within the precincts of the centuries- old shrine are being refurbished. The pedestal of the deities also is being repaired for possible corrosion due to wear and tear. The floorings and the roofs over the towers also are receiving the attention of the workers specially trained for the task. It may be recalled that the renovation work in the temple had got underway on April19 with the priests performing the conventional ‘Balalayam’. By performing the ceremony as prescribed in the ‘Agama Sasthras’ the powers and the auras of the deities get transferred and preserved in ‘Kumbhams’ and the portraits of the deities during the renovation period. Once the renovation performed every 12 years in the TTD temples is completed, the powers and auras of the deities would be re-transferred to the deities through another ceremony called ‘Samprokshanam’ spread over three days commencing from May 26.
