Apparel sector seeks stimulus package

NEW DELHI: Describing the Parliamentary election results as a vote for development, the Apparel Export Promotion Council expressed the hope that the United Progressive Alliance would continue its progressive social and economic agenda for inclusive growth and good governance and called for a five-point reform package to increase the installed capacities in the apparel sector.

Suggestions

The package suggested include fiscal incentives to the tune of Rs. 2,600 crore, a Rs. 250-crore product development fund, simplification of Exim norms, and measures to make capital investment more attractive, with friendlier labour laws.
