IMPHAL: Rajya Sabha MP from Manipur Rishang Keishing announced on Sunday that the Congress in Manipur will urge the party leaders and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to give a ministerial berth to the State as the party won both seats. He was speaking at the felicitation function of the two new MPs, Thokchom Meina and Thangsho Baite at the Congress Bhavan. Sense of belongingMr. Keishing said that if one of the MPs was inducted in the Ministry it would instil a sense of belonging among the people, apart from expediting the development of the remote border State. Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, party president Gaikhangam and Cabinet Minister Phungzathang Tonsing said the Congress was back in power as the people reposed full confidence in it.Mr. Keishing thanked the people for electing the two MPs from the party. He said the party sought full cooperation from all sections to implement developmental schemes in the State. Committed to developmentMr. Gaikhangam and Mr. Tonsing said the party was committed to the overall development of the State. Talking to The Hindu, Mr. Baite, who was elected from the reserved seat, said it was difficult to say whether the law and order situation was good or bad. However, he said that in consultation with the government he would do everything to solve the problems through peaceful means.
