India wins two more bronze

New Delhi: India’s tally of bronze medals increased by two at the European Grand Prix boxing event in Usti Nad Labem, Czech Republic after Manoj Kumar and Jai Bhagwan lost their semifinal bouts.

Jai Bhagwan lost 2-5 to Ireland’s Eric Donovan in the lightweight 60kg division. Manoj, the reigning light welterweight national champion, was beaten 0-2 by another Irishman Philip Supplisse.

Earlier, Olympic bronze medallist Vijender Singh (75kg) had also lost in the semifinals to settle for a bronze in the event.

Only, Suranjoy Singh (51kg) has made the finals of the event. — PTI
