Destroying the opposition, my whole aim, says Brett Lee

Bloemfontein: Australian pacer Brett Lee, who was instrumental in Kings XI Punjab’s crucial victory over Delhi Daredevils on Friday, said his sole aim going into the do-or-die match was to destroy the formidable rival batting line-up.

Lee, who was adjudged Man of the Match, took crucial wickets in his four-over spell against Delhi to set up a six-wicket victory for Kings XI.

Lee, who returned to form on Friday after a long injury lay-off, said he has found his rhythm back and expressed satisfaction with the way he bowled in the match.

“I am happier that we played as team and won the crucial match.

“My whole aim was to destroy the opposition in those four overs and I managed to do that. We had made sure that we go through this game anyhow,” he said.

He also lauded his colleagues in the bowling department for supporting him and restricting Daredevils to a mere 120 runs in its allotted 20 overs.

“It was a pretty good job by the bowlers. We did well enough to restrict them to 120. We knew it was an achievable total and we would do it. It was a do-or-die situation for us. But the pitch was a bit slow and our batsmen played well to chase the total,” Lee was quoted as saying. — PTI
