Thumping win for CCL

CHENNAI: Saravana Guru’s all-round performance (four for 16 and 32) went in vain for Prasad CC which lost its SICGIL Trophy cricket match to CCL by 92 runs here recently. Kumaresan (81) and Praveen (55) scored half-centuries for CCL.

In other matches, R. Chandrasekar (three for 22 and 42) starred in AG’s Office’s win over Chennai Port Trust, and T. Mathimugan (67) trumped Satish Kumar (62 n.o.), as Madras Emmanuel overcame PUC.

The scores:

Venkateswara 143 in 28.4 overs (Karthik 32, Bharath 33, A. Vignesh three for 32, M.S. Suraj three for 18) bt Sounder 92 in 25.4 overs (D. Dharmaselvan 30, Sarvesh three for 17).

PUC 167 for eight in 30 overs (Satish Kumar 62 n.o.) lost to Madras Emmanuel 168 for five in 27.5 overs (T. Mathimugan 67).

Chennai Port Trust 151 in 29 overs (R. Chandrasekar three for 22, A. Vivek three for 27) lost to AG’s Office 153 for four in 20.1 overs (R. Chandrasekar 42, N.P. Balaji 42 n.o., K.C. Ramasubramanian three for 34).

CCL 221 for eight in 30 overs (Kumaresan 81, Praveen 55, Saravana Guru four for 16) bt Prasad 129 in 24.2 overs (Saravana Guru 32, Ram Kumar three for 18).

Triplicane Cosmopolitan Club 137 in 28.4 overs (A. Mohan 56, Sajjid Hussian three for 13) lost to Venkateswara 140 for three in 24.3 overs (Athreya Mukunthan 42, Leenesh 71).

Thrilling win for Santhome SA

B. Sai Rupesh scored an unbeaten 43 to guide Santhome Sports Academy to a last-ball one-wicket win over St. Bede’s Sports Foundation in the final of the LMCA under-16 knock-out tournament held recently.

The scores (final):

St. Bede’s Sports Foundation 110 for seven in 20 overs (K.R. Vishal 25) lost to Santhome Sports Academy 111 for nine in 20 overs (B. Sai Rupesh 43 n.o., Deepak Saravanan four for 11).

Special awards:

Player of the tournament: S. Selvaa (Santhome); Best batsman: S. Vignesh (LMCA); Best bowler: Aswin Christ (St. Bede’s); Best all-rounder: B. Sai Rupesh (Santhome); Best wicketkeeper: Jayachandran (Santhome).

Promising youngster: Deepak Saravanan (St. Bede’s).

Sai Prasad shines

C. Sai Prasad’s 79-ball 84 propelled Prahlad CC to a 48-run win over Kedar’s CA in the final of the Jayalakshmi Memorial tournament here on Sunday.

Prahlad CC 157 for seven in 25 overs (C. Sai Prasad 84, G. Gokul three for 36) bt Kedar’s CA 109 for seven in 25 overs (Vignesh 25, Abhijit Venkatesh three for 24, R. Kesav three for 20).
