Ex-servicemen sent to polling booths

Buses and bus crew waiting at the Nethaji Stadium in Vellore on Monday to take ex-servicemen to various towns in the district.

VELLORE: A total of about 2,700 ex-servicemen were enlisted for poll duties and sent to the various polling stations in Vellore district to which they have been posted, in special buses operated from the Nethaji Stadium here on Monday. As many as 2,725 ex-servicemen in Vellore district had registered their names with the office of the Assistant Director of Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare, Vellore for doing poll duty.

A spokesman of the office of the Assistant Director of Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare said that ex-servicemen desirous of doing election security duty could register their names at the Nethaji Stadium here till 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

They should come prepared to stay in the polling stations to which they were posted, till May 14, he said.
