BELGRADE: World No. 3 Novak Djokovic triumphed on home soil when he beat Poland’s Lukasz Kubot 6-3, 7-6(0) to win the inaugural Serbia Open on Sunday. After losing three consecutive finals in Miami, Monte Carlo and Rome, top seed Djokovic delighted the 7,900 capacity home crowd to lift the 13th singles title of his career in an event organised and co-sponsored by his family. He put on a shirt saying “Serbia, I love you” and hugged his parents and brothers in their courtside box after overpowering the unseeded Kubot, who reached the final after he was readmitted into the tournament as a ‘lucky loser’. Berdych triumphsAt Munich, Tomas Berdych rallied in the decisive tiebreaker to overcome Mikhail Youzhny 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(5) in the final of the BMW Open Sunday for his first title of the year.
