VMCA (Dharwad) wins opener

HUBLI: VMCA (Dharwad) won the first match, while the match between Hubli Sports Club and Belgaum Sports Club ended in a draw on the opening day of the Savsol Cup under-16 cricket tournament in Hubli on Sunday.

The scores: HCA (Hubli) 30 in 17 overs (Hanumanth Mangle six for 13) and 91 in 37.1 overs (Sudarshan five for 42, Kishore Kamat four for 18) lost to VMCA (Dharwad) 138 for two in 21 overs (Samarth Ooty 49); HSC (Hubli) 201 in 58.1 overs (Abhishek 94 n.o., Akash three for 35) drew with Belgaum Sports Club 197 for seven in 48 overs (K. Rohan 58, Dyanesh 54).
