Mudassir triumphs

HYDERABAD: Mudassir won the juniors title in the 36th Brilliant Trophy State Open chess tournament with six points from six rounds here on Sunday. S.S.V. Aditya was second with five points.

In the Open category, Chiman Prakash Reddy emerged winner with 5.5 points on better progressive score after tying with C.R.K. Krishna.

Arshad Ayub CA wins

Arshad Ayub Cricket Academy recorded an eight-wicket win over Sports Coaching Foundation (Greens) in the semifinal of the u-12 category of the 10th Boston Cup inter-school floodlit cricket tournament at the SCF Grounds (Masab Tank) here.

In the final, Arshad Ayub CA will take on Super Cat Cricket Academy.

The scores: SCF Greens 56 for eight (Shyam three for 12) lost to Arshad Ayub CA 58 for two (Arvind 31).

ATNK & K area wins

ATNK & K area defeated 31 Armoured Division 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 in the final of the Southern Command volleyball championship at 1 EME Centre recently.

MG & G area was third and 54 Infantry Division was fourth. Ten teams took part in the three day tournament.

Brigadier Bibhuti Bhushan, Commandant, 1 EME Centre, was the chief guest on the concluding day.

Chess tournament

Cyber Chess Academy will organise the State junior Open chess tournament (u-17) under the aegis of the AP Chess Association from May 12 to 14 at its premises in West Marredpally here.

The event will be played in the classical format with the time control of two hours each. For details contact ph: 9959988766 or 040-40131669.

Sastry triumphs

J.M. Sastry won the Open rapid chess tournament conducted by Global Chess Academy in Vijayawada on Sunday. He garnered five points out of five rounds.

VPS Public School’s Koneru Yeshwanth Sai, Ch. Prabhakar finished second and third respectively with four points each. In the under-8 category, Jatin finished on top with four points.

Syndicate Bank Senior Manager K. Vijaya Babu and Global Chess Academy President K. Rajendra gave away the prizes.

Volleyball camp

The Krishna District Volleyball Association (KDVA) will conduct a residential coaching camp for sub-junior boys and girls at the Dronocharya-Arjuna Volleyball Academy, near Patamata Indoor Stadium, from Monday.

Former India coach A. Ramana Rao and KDVA Secretary Koteswara Rao will monitor the camp.
