Kaushik Ram sizzles in CSSF A’s title triumph

CHENNAI: Kaushik U. Ram (94 not out) helped Chennai St. Bede’s Sports Foundation ‘A’ defeat Kedar CA by six wickets in the final of the Dicky memorial under-14 tournament here.

The scores (final): Kedar CA 166 for six in 30 overs (Rohit Kalyan 42, Vigneshwar Rao 25, Rameez Raja 38) lost to CSSF ‘A’ 167 for four in 28.5 overs (Kaushik U. Ram 94 not out, M. Abhinav Sundar 27). Man of the match: Kaushik U Ram.

Special awards: Best batsman: A. R. Vigneshwar Rao (Kedar CA); Best bowler: M. S. Sanjay (CSSF ‘A’); Promising cricketer: S. Lokeshwar (CSSF ‘A’); Man of the tournament: Kaushik U. Ram (CSSF ‘A’).

Kesav, Abhijith shine

R. Kesav (four for 13) and Abhijith Venkatesh (four for three) starred in Prahlad’s nine-wicket win over Abdul Jabbar CA in a semifinal match of the Jayalakshmi Memorial under-10 cricket tournament held here on Saturday.

Prahlad will take on Kedar CA ‘A’ in the final on Sunday.

The scores (semifinals):

FSCA 128 for six in 25 overs (B. Ashwin 27, C.S.D. Sri Rangan 46) lost to Kedar CA ‘A’ 129 for five in 22.3 overs (B. Vignesh 26, S. Abhishek 29, G. Gokul 29).

Abdul Jabbar CA 37 in 15 overs (R. Kesav four for 13, Abhijith Venkatesh four for 3) lost to Prahlad CC 38 for one in 9.2 overs.

Reddy’s CA tournament

Reddy’s Cricket Academy will conduct the SBI-Reddy’s Cup under-12 cricket tournament, at Reddy’s Ground, Brindavan Nagar, Tambaram. Those born on or after September 1, 1997 are eligible.

Inter-club city league

All prominent clubs and personalities of the city’s billiards and snooker circuit are expected to participate in the Sumeru Soft-TNBSA inter-club city league which is to be held here from May 10 to June 14.

This is the fourth year in a row that Sumeru Soft has come forward to patronise this event.

In all 23 teams are in the fray and they have been grouped as Division A (six teams), Div B (six teams) and Div C (11 teams) as per previous rankings. Matches are scheduled over weekend. The total prize money offered is more than Rs 85,000.

AMC Premier League

The two-day HDFC AMC Premier League, a cricket tournament for key financial advisors of the city, will conclude on May 10. A total of 16 teams are taking part in the tournament.

Suri-Kumar duo wins

Suri and Kumar won the pairs event (Howell) organised as part of the TNSC annual bridge tournament here on Friday. Sri Krishnan and S.K. Chair duo placed second.

Other placings: 3. Ilango and G. Koteeswaran; 4. C.K. Sridhar and A. Rajagopal; 5. P. Narayan and Iyer; 6. R.S. Narayanan and R. Ravichandran.
